Adjie Notonegoro was born in Jakarta, on July 18, 1961. After graduated from Esmod Modelle L’ECole, Paris and Mueller und Sohn Modeschule, Duesseldorf, he launched his own fashion house – HOUSE OF ADJIE – under his own name in 1986.
Germany. In less than 10 years Adjie Notonegoro has become one of the most famous and respected fashion designers in Indonesia. He regularly show cases his collections across the globe.
With meticulous attention to form, structure, and balance Adjie Notonegoro combines Indonesian traditional motifs and materials with a modern cut. In 1987 he started to incorporate ‘batik’ in his designs. In 1989 he applied his ‘batik’ design on silk and organdy and introduced Adjie Notonegoro’s first collection in Singapore.
As a leading couturier, Adjie Notonegoro has been the personal fashion designer to the Sultan of Brunei and Presidents of Indonesia. His intricate designs are adored by many Indonesian women socialite and celebrities.
One of Adjie Notonegoro ‘kebaya and batik’ collection is part of the collection of Museo Del Traje, the International Fashion and Costume Museum in Madrid, Spain as well as Museum National de Laos in Vientiane, Laos. In May 2007, National Gallery of Australia received one of his batik bridal design made of chiffon and organza to add into its Indonesian Textile collection.
